Monterrey Black Marble, Tzalam Wood

Stone: Marble is a porous material - as a consequence of the natural finish without any chemical coating, it is normal for stains to appear with prolonged exposure to the sun and with some foods (such as; lemon, grapes and other fruits, cheeses, oils, wine, among others). Manufacturer recommended use with only with dry food.

Wood: Being a tropical wood, it is recommended to use linseed oil, coconut oil, or beeswax to rehydrate and avoid dryness and cracking as it acclimates to your environment. Owing to the natural finish, it is normal for spots to appear from contact with some foods, cracks due to climate change and opacity due to use. Hand wash with soap and water and dry immediately.

Inspired by our historical, natural, and primitive roots, Karim Molina, a textile designer from Caracas, Venezuela, highlights the beauty of materials, design and quality in their creations. Working with natural resources such as Guayacán and Tzalam woods, volcanic stone, marbles and natural leathers, their processes are completely handmade allowing each piece to be unique. With a philosophy that we all deserve special objects that tell a story, they personally seek out the materials and craftsmen with which they work, giving a sentimentality and intimacy to their designs.
