A one-of-a-kind, hand-built sculptural vessel crafted with coils and slabs of clay. This piece speaks of home and sense of place. It draws inspiration from the textures, colors, and architecture found in arid landscapes. Adobe also references the historical use of earth materials in constructing dwellings in many parts of the world. Fired to 2200 F in oxidation.
Adobe is part of the artist's ongoing research of natural materials. This intriguing sculptural object celebrates the texture and artistry of the natural stoneware material. Through a slow and intuitive process, she creates organic and asymmetrical forms from clay, adding a tactile connection to the material with clay slips and foraged natural materials. Through both form and surface, she seeks to honor the natural beauty and qualities of the materials used – to bring the earth to life, and to invite the viewer to connect to it.
