Amphora is a coil built vessel. One-of-a-kind. Fired to 2200 F in oxidation. A contemporary expression of the ancient amphorae, whose origins trace back to prehistoric Mediterranean civilizations. The surface of this vessel features a subtle texture enhanced with terra sigillata, a refined clay application historically used on pottery dating back thousands of years. This modern interpretation honors its ancient roots while showcasing a refined and timeless aesthetic.

Part of the artist's ongoing exploration of unique vessel forms, this simple yet stunning  piece celebrates the texture and artistry of the natural stoneware material. Through a slow and intuitive process, she creates organic and asymmetrical forms from clay, adding a tactile connection to the material with clay slips and foraged natural materials. Through both form and surface, she seeks to honor the natural beauty and qualities of the materials used – to bring the earth to life, and to invite the viewer to connect to it.
