Sculptural containers hand-crafted in the Puebla region of Mexico with a regard for the textures, colors, and ancestral powers inherent in the Volcanic Rock. This legendary material is representative of Mexico, arising from the cooling of lava flows from the volcanoes of the Sierra Madre. The top is made of Tzalam, a tropical hardwood native to the Yucatán boasting a fine texture and caramel hues. The dedicated work next to the artisans on the hills around Puebla allows the creation of these pieces.

ABOUT THE MAKER

Inspired by our historical, natural, and primitive roots, Karim Molina, a textile designer from Caracas, Venezuela, highlights the beauty of materials, design and quality in their creations. Working with natural resources such as Guayacán and Tzalam woods, volcanic stone, marbles and natural leathers, their processes are completely handmade allowing each piece to be unique. With a philosophy that we all deserve special objects that tell a story, they personally seek out the materials and craftsmen with which they work, giving a sentimentality and intimacy to their designs.

CARE

Stone: Due to the porous nature of untreated volcanic stone, the material will darken when in contact with oils. This special piece needs your care before its first use if it is going to be in contact with food. It is recommended you wash it with a brush, water, soap, and carve raw rice with a mallet or pestle before it is ready to be used.

Wood: Being a tropical wood, it is recommended to use linseed oil, coconut oil, or beeswax to rehydrate and avoid dryness and cracking as it acclimates to y
