Working from her studio in Portland, Oregon, Taylor Ruby Bell creates sculptural ceramic vessels guided by an intuitive approach to clay. Working primarily through pinching and coiling, Bell allows the material to bend, shift and reveal the marks of the hand, embracing irregularity as an essential part of each form.
Drawing from her Egyptian heritage and the language of ancient artifacts, Bell brings these references into conversation with Modernist art, furniture and architecture. Her background in Post-War and Contemporary art informs a keen attention to form and detail, while the immediacy of her process keeps each piece distinctly individual. The resulting vessels bridge ancient methods and modern expression—sculptural objects that feel both elemental and enduring.
